Unsafe Mumbai

As a resident of Mumbai since birth for last five decades, it has been observed that no one is safe in city anymore with increased in the crime rate like Women are being attacked in local trains by anti-social elements, Senior citizens are being targeted and murdered, and shops and banks are robbed leading to discomfort in the daily lives of the people. Even walking on the road is not safe with organized gangs of chain snatchers who lurk everywhere especially in the western suburbs. There could be more than one reason why Mumbai, once considered the safest city for women in India, has come to this sorry pass. But there is no denying that the buck stops with police. The commissioner of police is directly answerable for the personal safety of the citizens. He should order  an immediate crackdown on crime, get more policemen  onto the streets and restore the common citizen's faith in law and order. If the police cannot reassure people, what hopes does the citizens have?
